Good morning Marshall Middle School.

Today is Friday, November 20th  .

And now for our “Thought of the Day” : 

Today we send out a special “Happy Birthday” greeting to Kristin Exley and Tejas Mavanur. A sincere “Happy Birthday” in advance goes to our weekend birthdays. Saturday’s birthdays are Lydia Ott, Mattie Taggert and Michael Whitehurst and Sunday’s birthday is Diana Echeverría .

Please stop in the Counseling Office following morning announcements today.

 

This week’s Science Trivia Question is: The tallest mountain in Africa, made famous by a book written by Ernest Hemingway, has lost 26% of its glacial ice since the year 2000.  Within a few decades, most of the mountain’s glaciers will be gone.  What is the name of the mountain?  Enter your guess in the can outside Room 219.

 

Ms. Roy’s Reading Classes are reminded to report to Computer Lab 44 today.

Today we send out a Happy Birthday greeting to Halle Celebrezze and Michael Zuley.

Well Hey!  The following students deserve our congratulations.  They were chosen for this year’s Allegheny Valley Honors Band at the auditions on Tuesday night:  Songela Chen, Hannah Geibel, Natalie Stahl, Laura Fox, Breanna Monnin, Michael Helgerman, Lauren Foertsch, Kris Hayhurst, Tejas Mavanur, Jonathan Scott and Marisa DelSignore.  W e l l   D o n e ! !

 

The 8th grade band will practice today during the activity period.

 

Grade 8 chorus will rehearse today during the activity period.

 

The 7th and 8th grade orchestra will meet today during activity period.

 

 

 

 

 

 

EXTRA EFFORT AWARD - October

 

8th grade students were eligible for October’s Extra Effort Awards.  3 students were nominated.

Justine Simon was nominated by Mrs. Russo.  Justine completed the 1st quarter in Advanced Algebra with a 99.9%!  Mrs. Russo also notes that Justine has a great attitude and is well liked by her peers.

Garrett Day was nominated by Mrs. Feniello.  According to the honorable Mrs. Feniello, “Garrett is a joy to have in class.  His work ethic is excellent; he shows interest and enthusiasm toward the subject matter, and he contributes insightful comments to classroom discussions.”

Heather Barczynski was nominated Mr. Murslack.  Mr. Murslack says, “Heather goes above and beyond in terms of effort on assignments.  She puts forth maximum effort every time.” 

Congratulations Justine, Garrett and Heather, our Extra Effort award nominees for October.  At this time, all three should report to the guidance office.    

 

Attention all MMS students; if you missed the NAL test last Friday during DEAR and want to take it please see Mrs. Ross or Mr. Williams in room 213 right now.

Grade 8 Girl’s chorus will meet today during the activity period.

 

Stage Crew will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) morning at 7:00 AM.

 

Choral Ensemble will rehearse Wednesday during the activity period.

 

Grade 8 mixed chorus will meet Thursday during the activity period.

 

Attention:  Homework Club will meet today after school in the Library Classroom.

 

Attention all GOAL students going to the Faraday lecture today; you should be in the cafeteria at 9:35 to leave for the trip. If you are also scheduled to take the AMC today you need to listen carefully to the following instructions; if you have math class first period go to class as scheduled. If you are going to Faraday and have math any period other than first you should report to the cafeteria after morning homeroom to take the test with Mr. Williams. Again, if you are going to Faraday and taking the AMC; you should go to math if you have math first period. If you have math anytime periods 2-10 you should go to the cafeteria at the end of morning homeroom for the AMC test.
