A grant for a LXD 75 8" f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope was accepted by the N.A. Foundation.  This telescope can auto track stars and find 33,000 objects on its own.  Students that are interested in Astronomy will have an opportunity to participate in an N.A. Star Party.  Dates and times will be announced closer to the events.   This telescope will be housed at McKnight Elementary and used by teachers that attend Camp Kon-O-Kwee and for various presentations at the Elementary level.  Thanks again to the N.A. Foundation for your support.

The 2009/2010 Telescope Schedule:

  • McKnight Elementary Students at Kon-O-Kwee- Thursday, September 25, 2009

  • Ingomar Elementary Students at Kon-O-Kwee- Thursday, October 15, 2009

I enjoy dark evenings with my telescope at the Wagman Observatory (Deer Lakes Park, Russellton PA, Allegheny County). When I can't make the trip the small patio out back allows me to see the sky directly above.

  • I've been a member of the AAAP (Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh) since 2003. www.3ap.org

  • I have been working on the Messier list for a short while. I have found 35 of the 109 Messier numbers.   I need clear skies to find the rest.

  • I own a:

    • Meade 8"  f/6 reflecting telescope.

    • 70 MM Meade Model DS-70 refracting telescope.
