review: Do you have memories of when you played with a little kid? Did their childish act embarrass you? Well, that's what Hattie, a 12 year old girl, experienced one summer in Millerton.
Millerton is a small town , so Hattie knows everybody. Her parents own a boarding house in town. However, one day her parents tell her about a 21 year old, long lost uncle. Adam is mentally ill. He was at a school where you didn't come home. Adam's school had closed down. Consequently, he is spending the summer in Millerton with his parents. When Hattie hears this, she was so happy. She now has a friend! Throughout the rest of the book, Hattie experiences Adam's child-like personality. Their adventurous experiences are crazy, fun,and wild.
This is a great book! The author's writing style captured my attention in every chapter. The carnival scene is a particularly memorable chapter. Why? I will leave it up to your imagination.

review: "Alice, you are going to have to get married to Patrick," said Mr. Everett. Alice is a thirteen year old girl, who needs to marry soon for a school project. While Alice is doing this project she realizes how these things in life come true. Alice's best friends, Pamela and Elisabeth, are busy working on their projects. Pamela has to act like she is having a baby and Elisabeth has to wreck a car. Alice's mother died when she was young, and her father is confused as to which girlfriend he needs. Lester, Alice's brother is dealing with two girlfriends and just broke up with one.
Alice is my favorite character because she acts just like a real thirteen year old. Alice's problem is that she needs to deal with real life situations.
Alice in Lace is a mind twister because there are so many events happening at one time. I would recommened this book to girls, because it is basically about girl things. I couldn't relate to Alice, but she is a hilarious girl. Even though this book is a mind twister, it is still a excellent book.

review: Asta's son was the only thing he's ever been called. But, his name is appropriate because he and his mother are peasants living in the fourteenth century. Since the death of his mother, nothing has changed. He lost everything including his house, food, family, and all possessions. Also, he is accused of a crime he did not commit, and is declared a "wolf's head" meaning anyone is allowed to kill him on sight. He has no choice but to flee his village with his newly learned name, Crispin, and his mother's cross of lead. Through the English countryside, he finds things that puzzle, amaze, and terrify him including a juggler named Bear. Bear is a huge, possibly insane, man! Bear promises to protect Crispin, but it soon becomes clear that he is being endlessly pursued. Why are his enemies so determined to kill him? The boy is soon led into his enemy's fortress and must become a whole new person if he wants to save Bear's life and his own.
I enjoyed this book very much because it kept me wondering what was going to happen next, and made me want to keep reading. This great book included all the parts of a good story; happiness, fear, suspense, and mystery!

review: Have you ever been accused of a crime that you didn't do? In the book Holes Stanley Yelnats is accused of stealing a pair of shoes. The shoes were Clyde Livingstons,(a famous baseball player). After he goes to court he was sentenced to Camp Green Lake. It isn't a place were any normal person would be. The Warden there tells the boys they must dig a hole every day to "build character". They have to dig a hole five feet wide and five feet deep every day. After a while Stanley realizes that the boys and he are not digging holes for punishment. He knew the Warden was looking for something, and it wasn't a normal something.
I like this book because it had a lot of action and it is very humorous. For example, when Stanley stole the water truck to get Zero, he drove it straight into a hole. The only thing I disliked about what the author wrote is when he puts so many flashbacks in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action and comedy.

review: Do you want a book that you'll never be able to put down? Well, if so,then read the book Holes! This is a story about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. His name can be read forward or backwards. One day Stanley is walking home, and a pair of shoes "fall from the sky" and hit Stanley in the head. He then hears the police, and before he knows it, he's in the back of a police car. Some shoes were donated to an orphanage nearby, and those shoes happened to be the ones that fell from the sky. But, they weren't just any shoes, they were Cyndy Livingston's shoes!(in the book Cyndy Livingston is a famous baseball player)The police thought that Stanley stole them.
Stanley then has to go to court. He was found guilty and was sentenced to Camp Greenlake for 18 months! There he was to dig holes five feet deep, and five feet wide. At Camp Greenlake plenty of good, bad, and unexpected things happen. You'll have to read the book to see what happens in the rest of the story...
I thought that this book was AMAZING! This book really hooks you and makes you want to just keep reading.I would recommend this book to anyone of any age. It is definitely a page turner.

review: Imagine having to live during pioneer times. It's a difficult live for Laura, our main character, and her family trying to make it through those times. Laura,Mary,Baby Carrie and her Ma and Pa have a little cottage in the "Big Woods". There are several problems they encounter. Wild animals, the drastic weather changes, etc.
My favorite character is Laura. She isn't really proper, she is daring and mischieious. Laura is the opposite of her sister,Mary, who is very proper.
The author throws you in the middle of the plot! One of my favorite parts in this book is when Laura and her family go to town. It is exciting for Mary and Laura to go to town, because it is their first time going. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in historical fiction.

review: Calling all horse lovers! Do you like Arizona, trailriding, and deserts? Than this is the book for you.
After traveling to Arizona with her mother, Rose, Leeann Peters has false hope for her new life. Her mother is filling in for the cook at The Lost River Ranch, a dude ranch for tourists. Leeann loves horses, and plans on riding the horses there every day. Then she meets Amos. Because mean, old, Amos won't let her ride his horses, she feels miserable. Then she sees Sassy, a stubborn but beautiful runaway horse that maybe, just maybe she can ride.
Adler (the author) draws you into Leeann's life. You experience everything Leeann does in this charming, heart-warming story. Adler's creativeness draws you into Leeann's life, distracting you from the real world! Through difficult journeys, long-lasting friendships, disabled children, AND many horses, Leeann learns of how lucky she is. Extremely lucky! If you would like a good page-turner, I highly recommend this book to you.

review: "Goal!" That's what the South Orange River School soccer team wished they had heard every game. The nerds in school, Hays, Porter, Saltz, and Sitrow were forced to play on the school soccer team as a school rule. This new group has never played soccer before and had to start from scratch. The new team was sure to give up after their first loss, 32-0. But because their parents encouraged them to work harder, they couldn't give up. Along with their parent's encouragement, they heard some mean remarks from their classmates. This soccer team "want-a-bees" had the incentive to pull together and fight harder to become a winning team. Even though the team didn't even win a game, they learned how to be loyal, cooperative, and work together as one unit and reap all the benifits of being a team. These boys learned more than just soccer!
I can relate to the book, S.O.R Losers, because I've been part of many athletic teams. My participation on these teams taught me many lessons just like the boys from South Orange River. I liked this book very much because it was realistic, funny, and about kids my age. It also included how they managed their trials and tribulations of being a middle-schooler. I would recommend this book to children of all ages and especially to my teammates!

review: THE HOBBIT is an exciting book! It has wonderful twists of adventure and fantasy. It begins with a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins, who had no adventures or did anything unexpected, until Gandalf the wizard appeared. He was accompanied by 13 dwarfs! One of them,Thorin, was the grandson of the king under the mountain! This group stopped by Bilbo's house one night, and poor Bilbo got involved because Gandalf told Thorin that he was an expert burglar, just what they needed. They explained to Bilbo that they had to go to the Lonley Mountains. That was stolen from the dwarfs by the evil dragon Smaug many years ago. This odd troop had many adventures on their way to the mountains. From turning trolls into stone, running away from armies of goblins, and going through the dangerous Mirkwood. Will Thorin get his mountain kingdom back? Can Bilbo ever get back home? Read the book to find out!The authors writing style captured and held my attention from beginning to end. With great details and excellent character development. With a fascinating plot that will hold your attention too! I recommend this book to children 10 and older.

review: The main character, Mia Thermopolis ,does not think her life can get any better. Unfortunately, she is incorrect now that she found out she is the princess of Genovia. Most girls would love to find out they're a princess."Me"! No way, why would a freak like me be a princess? Look at me I'm 5 foot nine ,a freshman, and my feet are the size of a normal person's thighs." So she has lots of problems, but all she wants is to get a date with the most popular boy in school.
The Princess Diaries was a wonderful book. It explained what a girls life is like. I do not think a boy would like to read this book because it is all about girls. On a scale of 1-10, I put this book at a 8.

review: Imagine this: You are an unpopular, geeky freshman. You are constantly being picked on by cheerleaders, and your mom is dating your Algebra teacher(a subject that you are failing.) Welcome to the world of Mia Thermopolis. Mia is five-foot-nine, and has dishwater blond hair that looks like a yield sign. Mia lives in an apartment in New York City with her mother. A lot of the story takes place in Mia's high school.
One day, Mia's dad went to New York City from Europe and told Mia some shocking news. Mia was the heir to the throne of Genovia! Genovia is a small European country. Mia was bribed to take "princess lessons" from her rich, mean grandmother. When the press found out that Mia was a princess, they followed her everywhere! She even had to have a bodyguard follow her around. Mia hated being a princess, and longed to be a normal teenager. Just when Mia thought her life couldn't get any worse- Well, you can read about it in the book. This author's style is excellent because you feel like you are in the book. My favorite part was when Mia's father revealed that he was a prince. I didn't have a least favorite part. I would recommend this book to girls ages 12 and up.

review: When the Baudelaries' parents died in their big mansion, they became orphans. The first man they lived with was very twisted. His name is Count Olaf. As soon as the Baudelaries got away from him, Mr. Poe(a good friend of the Baudelaries parents) came to pick them up at Count's house. Mr. Poe took them to their Uncle Monty's house. When they got there Monty served them cake. They loved it because they haven't had it in such a long time. Monty let them choose their own rooms and put whatever they wanted in it(Count Olaf didn't.) Monty is a herpetologist so he studies snakes and reptiles and has a big house with lots of snake pictures hanging around it. He also has a giant lab/library downstairs with tons of snake knick-knacks. One or two weeks later, Count Olaf reappeared in disguise. He grew a beard, shaved his eyebrows and called himself "Stephano." A while later he murdered Monty with his dirk and blamed it on one of Monty's snakes.
If you like mysteries, you should get this book! I love this book because there is a lot of action in it. It also has a little bit of humor in it too. My favorite part is when Mr. Poe and Count Olaf are in a car crash. What I like about Lemony Snicket is when there is a vocab word that some people won't understand, he will give its definition.

review: Ever heard of a 13 year-old boy traveling down a 119 mile river going two miles per hour in 63 hours? Wow, pretty hard to believe, but Brian Robeson did so! The River, by Gary Paulsen, is a sequel to Hatchet, (a Newbery winner). If you read Hatchet and it left you “hanging” after he was rescued, this would be a great book for you! When Brian is at home, a few people come to his house. They want him to go back out in the woods to teach his survival skills to Derek. They say that they could use what he did to train others. Brian and Derek go out into the woods with only a radio and notebooks. Then, something bad happened to Derek. In order for Derek to survive, Brian must go down the river.
The book was excellent. I always wanted to know what happened to Brian after the ending of Hatchet. If you didn’t like Hatchet, I would not recommend this book to you.

review: Have you ever had a pair of magic pants that make anyone who tries the pants on look great? In the, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, the sisterhood is back and the pants are ready to travel. When Carmon found the pants one year ago, they each wanted the magic pants. The girls created ten rules to go by while wearing the pants. One rule for example is you must never say the word "phat" while wearing the pants. You must also not think "I am fat" while wearing the pants. The girls are sixteen now, and this will be their second summer apart!
Over the summer, the sisterhood is a mess. Lena is hiding from the world from missing her ex-boyfriend. Carmon worries about her mom who is acting like a kid again with her new boyfriend. Tibby is away from the sisterhood, at an exclusive film camp. Bridget is visiting her Grandma in Alabama, alone, without her family. Bridget's dad forbid her from seeing her Grandma, but she went anyway.
My favorite character is Bridget because she always has adventurous schemes right up her sleeve. Bridget does some pretty wild things. I like this book a lot because in the story are things girls really go through, for example missing your ex-boyfriend. I would recommend this book for girls ages twelve and up.

Shahrazad is her hero because she has been alive as the Sultans's wife for almost two years. The Sultan would kill his wife every night until Shahrazad. She stays alive by telling him stories every night. She would always wonder what would happen if she ran out of stories to tell because if she told him the same story twice, he would kill her.
Her aunt was selling items at the Harem, but Marjan was going to find her hero. Marjan liked to tell stories, too. So she told Shahrazad a story her hero didn't know, then Shahrazad told it to the Sultan. He wanted to hear the rest of it, but Marjan didn't know it. They go on a quest to find the story. What will happen if they don't find it? Find out by reading The Shadow Spinner.
I loved this book. I could not put it down! All the chapters were action-packed, deatailed, and fun to read. This book had very good word usage, too. I would recommend this book to anyone.

review: Name one book where a thirteen year old kid steals priceless items. Prosper and Bo may seem like a normal twelve and five year old children, but are runaway children from their foster parents, who are their Aunt and Uncle. They live by a thirteen year old kid, Scripio, that gets money. Prosper and Bo along with three other kids live in an old rundown movie theater. The five kids wonder where Scripio lives until a detective trying to find where Prosper and Bo are staying, visits the richest man in Venice, Italy (where the story takes place)sees him living there. The six kids get a job to steal a wing for a magical merry-go-round. My favorite character is Scripio because he is mysterious. What will happen next? I liked this book a lot because it is mysterious and you do not know what will happen any moment. My favorite part of the book is when they follow the person who asks them to do the job. Well, thats's what Morrie Schwartz, a college professor, is going through because he is suffering from ALS ( Lou Gerigs disease). But instead of mourning through all his last days, he is spending his time visting with his former students.
As the days go by, this old man watches the disease " take over" his whole body, to the point where he can't even go to the bathroom by himself.
Through all Morrie's visits, his favorite student, Mitch Albom, probably means the most to this dying professor. Mitch's visit started out to be a " one day chat", but he realizes he needs more time with him.
So every Tuesday, Mitch visits Morrie. The old man gives him advice on everything from love to death.
