Instrument Care & Maintenance - there are some differences of opinion about some aspects of instrument care. I have included a variety of links, from several sources. Use your best judgment and/or follow the advice of your child's private teacher, the instrument manufacturer or the store where you have purchased the instrument.

Accessories
Accessories - pictures are shown to provide some examples of high quality accessories. There are other brands available.
Professional mouthpiece, such as a Hite Premier.

Rovner ligature/cap.

Five good reeds, size 2 for beginners. Most students move to a 2 1/2 some time in fourth grade, or early fifth grade. Many 5th grade students play on a size 3 (ask me if you have questions, please). Recommend brands include: Vandoren (use 1/2 lighter than my first recommendation) & Rico Royal.

Fibracell Reed - A synthetic reed is a nice option for many students. Size "soft" will work well for most elementary-aged students.

Reedguard II protective reed case.

Cork grease.
A clean swab.
