German 1 Goals and Guidelines for the Second Semester

Ausgang Passes, Strikes, and Reward Passes

1) You have been given 10 Ausgang passes, which equals 20 extra credit points. Passes will be marked with Herr Smolinski’s marker in the following situations:

When you are late to class without an excuse – surrender 1 pass
When you forget your book, a writing utensil, or other material needed for class – surrender 1 pass
When you do not have passes with you and need to leave the room to get them in order to go somewhere else – surrender 1 pass
When you need to go to the bathroom during class activities

2) Behavior and self-control expectations will be higher. For each class disruption or off-task behavior, Herr Smolinski will alert you “Strike 1, Strike 2…etc.” If you reach 3 strikes in one class period or 6 strikes in a week, then you will be given a detention and surrender 1 Ausgang pass. If you run out of Ausgang passes, there will be no room for error in terms of behavior.

3) Reward passes will be given to the student of the week and in other games/contests in class during the 3^rd nine weeks. The reward passes may be used for 5 minutes of whole class free time or as an excuse from any 10 point homework assignment. *Student of the week* will be awarded the Monday following each week. If 9 student of the week winners plan to use their reward passes together, there exists the possibility of a free class. Prior notice is needed for lesson planning if more than one student would like to have 5 minutes of free time for the class. Note – passes may be transferred to another student in 2 situations: a) so that another student may go to the bathroom; and b) at the end of the nine weeks.
