Intro Deutsch A – Kapitel Sechs – Study Guide

Our sixth test has ten sections of 5 points each for a grand total of 50 points. The test will cover the areas of listening, reading, culture, and writing based on the material covered in the sixth chapter.

Listening

Part A – In this section, you will listen 5 students’ conversations about their free time activities. Then you will match the time of their activity with the letter of the clock face pictured. To prepare, know the Wortschatz on page 146.

Part B – In this section, you will listen as someone describes what he or she orders.

Match the item of food with the name of the person who orders it. To prepare, know the food vocabulary from page 155.

Part C – In this section, you will listen as someone describes how several people are feeling. Mark a) if they are doing well and b) if they are not doing well. To prepare, know the SSMD box on page 145.

Reading

Part D – In this section, you will read 5 sentences about Sven’s plans for the day. You will rearrange the sentences into correct chronological order. To prepare, know the ways to express time.

Part E – In this section, you will read an advertisement from the Zum Lesen section for concerts. Then you will answer 5 true/false questions in German about the ad. To prepare, read and comprehend the “Lynyrd Skynyrd” ad on page 159.

Part F – In this section, you will read 5 German questions/statements and match them with an appropriate response in German. To prepare, know the questions from your vocab on page 163. 

Culture

Part G – This section covers tipping in Germany. You will select the correct tip each customer should leave for the waiter. To prepare, review the Ein Wenig Landeskunde box on page 157.

Writing

Part H – In this section, you will write five sentences describing activities you do during a typical weekday (school day). To prepare, know how to include time expression into describing what you do.

Part I – In this section, you will select 5 activities that you would like to do from a box on your test. Then you will write 5 sentences talking about those activities, including one inviting your friend Stefan to join you. To prepare, know how to ask someone what they want to do on the weekend and how to use the vocab from the Wortschatz on page 149.

Part J – In this section, you will read a menu and create a dialog based at Café Freizeit. You will write out what you order from the Kellner, tell him how it tastes, and pay your bill. To prepare, know the skills from the Dritte Stufe, pages 154-57.
