Intro Deutsch A – Kapitel Vier – Study Guide

Our fourth test has ten sections of 5 points each for a grand total of 50 points. The test will cover the areas of listening, reading, culture, and writing based on the material covered in the fourth chapter.

Listening

Part A – In this section, you will listen to Nicole talk about her class schedule. Then you will answer 5 stimmt/stimmt nicht questions about the accuracy of the statements she makes by reading her class schedule. To prepare, know how to read a German class schedule – Wortschatz, p. 97

Part B – In this section, you will listen to Nicole and Bernd discuss their grades in various classes. If the response to the grade is logical, you will mark A) logisch. If not, mark B) unlogisch. To prepare, know the correct ways to respond to good/bad news from page 104 (SSMD).

Part C – In this section, you will listen to a conversation about school supplies. If one item is mentioned, mark a) singular. If two or more items are discussed, then mark b) plural. To prepare, know the vocab on page 115 and the Grammatik box on page 106.

Reading

Part D – In this section, you will read a paragraph written by Wiebke and then answer 5 questions about it. The answers will be based on whether you think Wiebke would make certain statements based on what she tells you about herself in the paragraph. To prepare, know your vocabulary from page 115.

Part E – In this section, you will read about Ilse’s favorite subjects and those she doesn’t like. Then you will answer 5 multiple-choice questions based on the paragraph. To prepare, definitely know the subject and favorite vocabulary – SSMD – page 102.

Part F – In this section, you will read an ad from the Institut Rosenberg. Then you will answer 5 true/false questions in English about the ad. The ad can be found on page 110 in the text. 

Culture

Part G – This section covers differences between German and American schools. In English, you will write 5 ways that the two school systems are different. To prepare, recall class discussions and the Ein wenig Landeskunde boxes from the chapter. 

Writing

Part H – In this section, you will write a paragraph in German about your school schedule, describing in what sequence you have your classes. You will need to write 5 complete sentences. To prepare, know the subject vocab and the sequencing vocab from page 101.

Part I – In this section, you will write a dialogue between you and a salesperson at a school supply store. You need to ask the prices and location of some items. To prepare, look at the picture on 108 (the same one will be on your test.) and use page 108, ex. 27 and the Los geht’s dialogue as guides for creating the dialogue.

Part J – In this section, you will answer 5 interview questions in German about yourself. To prepare, know how to answer in complete sentences and what some of your favorite things are. This section is very much like ex. 11, page 42 from your workbook exercis
