KC Star Student – Your child will be assigned a week that they share information and pictures with the class.  This activity fosters self-confidence and promotes speaking skills. On the monthly schedule, you will find the week for which your child is scheduled. The KC Star Student packet will come home a week prior. Our first KC Star Student will present on Monday, September 14th.

Super Sack – This will be sent home with your child to promote speaking skills, as well as promote listening skills amongst the entire class.  The child gives the class 3 clues of what is in the bag.  Please practice these clues with your child at home.  When considering clues, think about shapes, colors, letters/sounds, etc. Remember: the item must fit in the bag, not be edible, living, or breakable. This will begin on Monday, September 14th.

Birthday Celebrations/"Borrow a Birthday" – In order to make everyone feel special in KC, we will celebrate birthdays in school.  Non-edible treats are encouraged; however, if you are sending an edible treat, please send a list of ingredients 48 hours in advance. If ingredients are not received 48 hours in advance, the treat cannot be shared. If your child has a birthday in the summer, as I do, and you would like to "borrow a birthday," simply send me an e-mail or a note with the date on which your child would like to celebrate.

Scholastic Book Clubs – KC is on the web! To order Scholastic Books on-line, please follow the instruction sheet sent home during the first week of school. If you need an additional sheet OR would still like to receive paper orders, please let me know. For every order placed on-line, our class receives one free book! If you order via paper, Scholastic asks that you send CHECKS only made payable to Scholastic Book Clubs.

Volunteers - If you could arrive between 9:30 and 9:40, that would be great. We typically start centers around 9:45/9:50. Centers are 15 minutes each (4 centers per day) for a total of an hour.  You may walk into the room when you arrive; you do not need to knock. Thank you.

 Monthly Newsletters – Each month I will send home a newsletter explaining the month’s activities and the list of the parent volunteers/monthly KC Star Students. There will also be a copy of the monthly newsletter on my web page under the link "Monthly Newsletter."

 Drinks/Drink Tickets-Drinks are $.60 each and $3.00 for a strip of 5.  If you are ordering a strip of tickets, please do so on FRIDAY.  When the tickets are returned on Monday, they will need cut or ripped into 5 separate tickets.  Please reinforce this with your child if he/she receives the strip of tickets on his/her seat Monday morning. Thank you.

Parent Teacher Conferences – These will be held in November and in the spring. If you did not sign up for a November conference at Curriculum Night, please send me an e-mail or note letting me know. I will then send home an available list of dates and times (November 2^nd and November 3^rd are conference days). I will send a conference reminder note home in October. Be on the look out!

Report Cards – We will give out report cards in January and June.  Please return the report card and envelope when you are done reviewing it in January.
