NAI Mountain Biking:  Class Ride Rules

Important: The use of a mountain bike at NAI is a privilege and not a right.  If you ride recklessly, do not take care of the equipment, or do not follow the rules below you will loose this right without further warning.

·       You must wear your helmet properly any time you are on a bike.

·       You are responsible for conducting an equipment safety check at the beginning of each class.  Document problems on your bike check form and report any problems to the teacher.

·       Always ride under control, if you are uncomfortable get off and walk your bike.

·       Shift while pedaling softly.  Do not grind the gears.

·       Ride around all game fields, not across. (soccer, field hockey, and baseball)

·       Get off and walk your bike across all road intersections.

·       Maintain a safe distance between bikes allowing an escape route if the bike in front of you stops suddenly or wrecks.

·       Assume there is an obstacle around every bend.  Even on trails you are familiar with there could be a hiker, animal, or fallen tree.

·       You must stay with your class at all times.

·       You must stay with your partner and riding group at all times.  (If someone in the group has a problem, two riders may ride to the teacher to report the problem.)

·       NO skidding.
