Bully Prevention Program/Second Step Violence Prevention Program
The Olweus Bully Prevention Program began during the 2003-2004 school year
at McKnight. The goal of the program is to identify
bullying behaviors, and to help students who are being bullied. The program
consists of school-wide bully prevention rules, classroom meetings, and a fully
trained staff to ensure a successful program.

McKnight's School
Rules Against Bullying
1. We will not bully other students.
2. We will help students who are bullied.
3. We will include students who are left out.
4. We will STOP, WALK, and TELL.
Second Step - A Violence Prevention Program is designed to promote
social competence and reduce children's social and emotional problems. Research
tells us that children who learn and use these skills are more likely to get
along with others and do better in school. The Second Step curriculum is divided
into three units (Empathy Training, Impulse Control and Problem Solving, and
Anger Management). This program began in September 2004 with our staff members
teaching lessons
from this program. These lessons coupled with the Olweus Bully Prevention
Program make for a more comprehensive approach in helping everyone get better at
getting along.
